Christchurch Civic Centre

The new Christchurch Civic Centre needs no introduction. Designed by Athfield Architects this re development of an existing inner city building has been awarded the highest possible rating for environmental design.

TECU® Oxid copper sheets have been used as a design feature throughout the main entrance. They create a striking formal contrast to the wall of precast concrete and glass. The nature of the curved features mean that every panel is individually tapered to fit the profile of the building.

TECU® Oxid copper is manufactured by KME and supplied by Eurometals here in New Zealand. The copper is pre-oxidised on both sides in a patented natural process that is gentle on the material. The oxide layer is not artificial but results naturally from the copper itself..
